Isabella Coons was booked in the J Reuben Long Detention Center Saturday for harming her three-month-old son.
According to the solicitor's office Coons admitted to police she grabbed her son, Danny, by the chest.
Danny was taken to MUSC in Charleston and is being treated for broken ribs and brain injuries, including bleedingon the brain.
Coons is charged with Inflicting Great Bodily Injury Upon a Child.
Coons told Judge Butler during her bond hearing he that she "didn't mean to hurt him."
WPDE NewsChannel 15 spoke with the father of Coons' child and Coons' mother before the bond hearing.
Michelle Coons said that Isabella was treated for depression and other mental illnesses in other states prior to living in South Carolina.
Michelle said that she believes that the stress of being a teenage mother and postpartum depression led to her assaulting her baby.
Daniel Baker, the father of the baby, said that Isabella told him she didn't remember hurting the baby.
Baker also told WPDE NewsChannel 15 that he believed the baby was in stable condition.
The baby is in the custody of the Department of Social Services.
Judge Butler set Isabella Coons' bond at $30,000 cash surety.
Butler also gave Coons a 10 p.m. curfew and denied her contact with the baby.
