Crews investigate early morning fire in Nichols

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a call off Long Bridge Swamp Road in Nichols just after 3 o'clock Tuesday morning.

Crews with Horry County Electric were driving by when they noticed a barn on fire, according to Battalion Chief Dan Shankle with HCFR.

Loris Fire Department also responded.

A lightning strike started the fire, according to Horry County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Leslie Yancey.
