A fifth grade student who brought a BB pistol to West Hartsville Elementary School has been removed from school.

He showed it to several students before bringing it back home, according to a press release from the district. At no point did he threaten any students.

The next day another student told the principal about the BB pistol and the principal contacted the Darlington County Sheriff's Department.

BB guns are prohibited at Darlington County School District schools.
