U.S. Marshals have been called in to help with the investigation into the murder of of a Coastal Carolina University student.

Anthony Liddell,19, from Bennettsville, died after the shooting at University Place apartments, Tuesday night.

The autopsy shows the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.

"We are assisting the State Law Enforcement Division(SLED) and CCU police with the apprehension of a suspect or suspects that were involved in the fatal shooting," said U.S. Marshal Kelvin Washington, District of South Carolina.

Washington didn't go into his officers' role in the investigation, but the U.S. Marshals Service is the federal government's primary agency for fugitive investigations, according to the agency's website.

Police continue to work toward making an arrest in the case. 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson says he reviewed the case with CCU Police and State Law Enforcement Division agents Thursday.

He says they're making great progress, but have yet to issue a warrant.

Liddell's funeral takes place Saturday, March 2 at the Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church on Wallace Road in Bennettsville at 1 p.m.

The family will receive friends two hours before the service.

Liddell was a sophomore at CCU, majoring in sports medicine.
