The search has resumed for a boater who went missing on the Little Pee Dee River Friday near a private landing near Highway 917 in Mullins.

Jeff Ard with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said they organized the search Friday evening after a boater spotted a boat pulled up to the edge of the shore. Ard said the river is flooded from recent rains, so divers are taking their time.

Divers searched through Saturday evening and resumed the search early Sunday.

Broken trees and logs are at the bottom of the river, so divers have to be very careful, according to Ard. Officers also canvassed the woods surrounding the river just in case the person in the boat got out and is walking back for help through the woods.

"Officers are blowing horns and whistles to draw attention," Ard said.

Horry County Rescue, Mullins City Fire, Marion County Fire and Rescue, Marion County EMS and the Marion County Sheriff's Office are helping in the search.
