Jerry Lee Inman, 62, died from injuries suffered in a fire at his home on Wilton Drive in Lumberton Sunday afternoon, according to Randall Graham, the public information officer for the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.

His neighbor, a volunteer fireman with a Robeson County Fire Station, pulled Inman out of the burning home and onto the front porch, Graham said.

A deputy arrived minutes later and administered CPR to Inman, but he was pronounced dead a short time later at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

A cigarette fell onto a chair while Inman was asleep and caused the fire, according to Graham.

The fire has been ruled accidental.
