A lawsuit was filed in Horry County on December 28 by Nibils Restaurant, according to Horry County Court online court records.

Nibils occupied the space on the Surfside Beach Pier for 23 years before submitting a bid as their lease was set to expire.

Another bid had come in from another potential restaurant group, that included local TV personality Cecil Chandler who is an employee of WPDE.

The town eventually deemed both entries incomplete and Nibils moved to a new location.

Chandler is also named in the lawsuit, as is Bill Rempfer and former town administrator Ed Booth.
