Pedestrian hit and killed in Timmonsville

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Florence County.

The wreck happened at 4135 Creek Road in Timmonsville at about 6:50 Wednesday morning.

Lance Corporal Sonny Collins said a pedestrian was hit by a car traveling on Creek Road near Highway 301.

The pedestrian, identified as William Everett Oliver, 73, was killed. According to the Florence County Coroner's Office, Oliver's family said he walked every morning.

The driver was taken to McLeod with injuries. That person's condition has not been released.

The crash is under investigation.
