Six cars were involved in a crash at the intersection of Cashua Drive and Second Loop Road in Florence Thursday afternoon.

Jason Eugene Brock, 26, of Pamplico, is charged with Attempted Strong Armed Robbery, Failure to Stop for Blue Light, Felony DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with an occupied vehicle and an ABC violation, according to Major Carlos Raines.

Brock led officers on a chase after he tried to rob a man outside the Bank of America on Irby Street, Raines said.

A man was walking into the bank to make a deposit when officers say Brock approached him and tried to take his bank bag. The man resisted and there was a struggle.

The victim ran inside the bank and called 911.

Brock then took off in his car.

Officers spotted the truck on Edisto Drive. They chased Brock to the intersection of the crash and that's when they say he crashed into the cars.

Jimmy Collins works across the street from where the crash happened. He says he heard sirens then saw Brock hit the cars.

Two people were taken to the hospital. The others involved in the crash were examined by paramedics on the scene.

"They were coming wide open. And when he, the red light turned green, he tried to shimmy between cars and that's when he grazed a white van. And hit the little Lexus in a head on collision. And that's what messed it all up. And then the cops yanked him out the car, nailed him to the ground," said Collins.

Brock is being held at the Florence County Detention Center. We're told formal charges will be filed Thursday afternoon.

Second Loop Road is closed from West Palmetto Street to Cashua Drive while the wreck is cleaned up.
