Red Flag Warning has been issued for Marlboro and Dillon Counties in South Carolina along with Robeson and Scotland Counties in North Carolina. This warning is in effect until 8pm due to increasing winds and low humidity levels. While the rest of the area is not under a Red Flag Warning, there is still an increased risk of fire.

A cold front pushed South of the area this morning and is ushering in very dry conditions for the afternoon. This dry air, accompanied by winds gusting over 20 mph and already dry ground conditions, can increase the threat for wild fires and brush burning to quickly get out of control. Open burning is considered very hazardous and is strongly discouraged. Please make sure you call the South Carolina Forestry Commission before doing any burning to see if your area is permitted at this time.
