A body found around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday near Red Bluff Landing in Horry County in the Waccamaw River is that of Edward Lee, 50, of Conway, who went missing last Friday according to Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler with the Horry County Coroner's Office.

Around 3:30 p.m. Friday, Horry County firefighters and officers with the Department of Natural Resources were called to Red Bluff Landing off Highway 905 in Horry County for a report of a swimmer in distress, according to Leslie Yancey, with Horry County Fire Rescue.

Though plans to bring a car ferry to Sandy Island from Alabama have fallen through, island residents and organizers of the Sandy Island Ferry Project say they're not giving up on efforts to continue raising money and looking to acquire another ferry that might serve the island's needs. The island is only accessible by boat.

Bridgette Solis was fishing with her son in the Waccamaw River Wednesday when a carjacked truck flew over their heads and crashed into the River. Solis says she thought the truck was going to crash on top of them.
