Preparations Before the Storm

If a Hurricane Watch is issued:
Fuel car.
Check mobile home tie downs.
Move boats to safe shelter.
Make sure you have the items in your Hurricane Survival Kit.
Secure lawn furniture and other loose material outdoors.
Shutter or board windows.

Items to have during a Hurricane:
- Canned meats, fish, soups, fruits and vegetables canned juices, dried fruit, bread, cookies, crackers, peanut butter and jelly, coffee and tea.
- bottled water (2 week supply of one gallon per person per day) cash
- charcoal and ice, manual can opener
- prescription medication (2 week supply), water purification kit
- disposable plates, cups and utensils, infant care items (disposable diapers, baby formula and food)
- first aid book and supplies, masking tape
- flashlight or lantern with extra batteries for each family member
- battery operated radio and/or tv non-electric clock
- mosquito repellant, ice chest
- plastic trash bags, chlorinated bleach
- fire extinguisher, clean up supplies
- toilet paper, paper towels and pre-moistened towelettes
