MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports some farmers are installing expensive irrigation systems to provide for their crop. Other growers are reducing the amount of tobacco they are planting this year.

William Johnson says he's cut back a bit on planting. Johnson cultivates about 400 acres of tobacco and other crops on his farm between Conway and Aynor.

Johnson and other farmers are raising tobacco seedlings in greenhouses to prepare them for planting.

Weather forecasters say northeast South Carolina is about 4 inches below normal rainfall so far this year.
