Going green took center stage on a Grand Strand runway Thursday night as Waccamaw Intermediate School kicked off their Going Green Fashion Show.

Students and teachers modeled their environmentally friendly ensembles that were uniquely created by using 100 percent recycled material.

Organizers say Thursday night's event was a way to teach students outside of the classroom how to reduce their carbon footprint.

"We need to preserve our environment. We need to save our environment. We need to educate our youth, so they know what to do in the future," Nicole Zeller said.

The grand prize winners were Ms. Sumlin's 5th grade class.
