MYRTLE BEACH, SC, (WPDE) - People lined up hours before the Myrtle Beach Gun and Knife show opened just to make sure they'd be the first ones inside.
"This may be one of the largest crowds we've had at Myrtle Beach," said promoter Mike Kent.
Kent said usually they have no more than 200 people lined up for the start of the show and Saturday there were more than 500 people waiting.
Visitors lined up to see everything the show has to offer.
"This is an assortment of gun dealers, ammo dealers, knife dealers, military surplus dealers, that travel around the gun show circuit," said Kent.
Many people attended because of proposed changes in national gun laws.
"It's scary right now," said atendee, Jim Brown.
"A lot of it's got to do with the pending assault rifle legislation that's going on in congress right now," said Kent. "That makes people worried they think they need to go out and buy more assault rifles, buy ammunition and things like that."
The gun show continues through Sunday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. It will be from 10 a.m. To 4 p.m.
The show is $8 to attend.
