Lake City linebacker Devaris Brunson took to his twitter account to announce that he's given a verbal commitment to play for East Carolina. Brunson was considered one of the top linebacking prospects in South Carolina. He had 174 tackles for the Panthers last year making the 2011 WPDE All-Zone team.
Brunson had offers from ECU and North Carolina State and interest from a long list of schools including South Carolina, Clemson and Ohio State. Brunson becomes the second rising senior in the area to join East Carolina's football program. Dillon running back and reigning WPDE Zoneman Jabo Lee committed to the Pirates on April 27th.
Four area players have now committed to Division I programs over the spring and summer:
Bryce King, Dillon OL - South Carolina
DJ Park, Dillon OL - South Carolina
Jabo Lee, Dillon RB - East Carolina
Devaris Brunson, Lake City LB - East Carolina
