Timmonsville football star signs college letter

Timmonsville linebacker Walter Singletary has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football at Methodist Universtiy in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Singletary led the state in tackles for the Whirlwinds in his senior year of high school under former Timmonsville head coach Jimmy Woods. His 243 stops ranked among the top five in the nation in 2011.

The 5'10"  195 pounder also ran for 447 yards on 67 carries for two touchdowns. The Methodist Monarchs plan to use Singletary primarily at linebacker and he may play some at running back. Singletary was a Class A All-State selection and South Carolina High School League Scholar Athlete. He says he plans to major in business.
