College Baseball 4/1: USC & CCU win, Clemson loses

The 10th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks beat the Vanderbilt Commodores 6-4 in 13 innings on Sunday before a crowd of 2,851 fans at Hawkins Field in Nashville, Tennessee. Christian Walker belted a 2-run homer to break a 4-4 tie and lead the Gamecocks to victory. South Carolina took two of three from Vanderbilt in the series. Gamecocks starting pitcher Colby Holmes, a product of Conway High, retired ten consecutive batters during his outing. Holmes was pulled in the fifth inning after allowing three earned runs. The Gamecocks overall record is now 20-8, 3-6 in the SEC.

The 7th ranked Miami Hurricanes beat the Clemson Tigers 4-2 with 4,382 watching at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday. Dale Carey delivered a two-out, two-run single in the seventh inning to give Miami the lead for good. Clemson won the series against Miami two games to one. The Tigers record is now 14-13 overall, 5-7 in the ACC.

The 25th ranked Coastal Carolina Chanticleers beat the Radford Highlanders 5-3 with 411 fans looking on at RU Baseball Stadium in Radford, Virginia. Tucker Frawley and Brian Pruett led the CCU offense driving home two runs each. The Chanticleers are now 18-8 overall, 2-1 in the Big South Conference, after taking two of three games from Radford.
