College Baseball 3/31: Clemson wins USC & CCU lose

The Clemson Tigers defeated the #7 Miami Hurricanes for a second straight day. The Tigers beat the Canes 3-1 before 4,758 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Richie Schaffer hit a two-run double in the seventh inning to break a one-all tie. Clemson improves to 14-12 overall and 5-6 in the ACC.

The Vanderbilt Commodores pounded the 10th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks 12-4 in front of 3,113 fans at Hawkins Field in Nashville, Tennessee. Vandy scored seven runs in the fourth inning and never trailed. St. James High product Tanner English went 2-for-4 and drove in a run for the Gameococks. Hartsville native Hunter Privette threw one scoreless inning in relief for South Carolina in the loss. The Gamecocks record fell to 19-8 overall and 2-6 in the SEC.

The Radford Highlanders beat the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 6-3 as 643 fans watched at RU Baseball Stadium in Radford, Virginia. The series is tied at one game apiece. Coastal Carolina won 4-2 on Friday. CCU's overall record drops to 17-8 overall, 1-1 in the Big South Conference.
