South Carolina Gamecocks first baseman Christian Walker accounted for half of the team's offense in a 6-1 victory over the Princeton Tigers, before a crowd of 7,426 at Carolina Stadium in Columbia. Walker stroked three hits, drove in two runs and scored once as #3 South Carolina ran their record to 12-1. Gamecocks starting pitcher Matt Price tossed six innings, struck out six and picked up the win. Tanner English out of St. James High went 1-for-5 and scored a run in the South Carolina win.
The 8th ranked North Carolina Tar Heels beat the #20 Clemson Tigers 6-3 on Saturday, before a crowd of 5,513 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson. Clemson's Dominic Attanasio's 2-run double in the fifth gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead. But the Tar Heels rallied to tie it heading to the ninth. The Heels scored three runs in the ninth, highlighted by a pair of bases-loaded walks. Clemson falls to 6-6 on the season and 0-2 in the ACC. Coupled with a 4-3 win on Friday, North Carolina has clinched the series.
In Conway, South Carolina, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 4-1 at the Chanticleer Classic, before 816 fans at Watson Stadium. CCU starting pitcher Josh Conway went the distance. He allowed just three hits and one run. In game two of the double-header, Marist defeated Coastal Carolina 5-4 in 14 innings. CCU is now 7-6 on the season.
