South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback Connor Shaw ran for 88 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 17-12 victory over the Florida Gators in Columbia on Saturday.
The 15th ranked Gamecocks took a 14-3 halftime lead on a quarterback sneak by Shaw. It proved to be the game-winner for the Gamecocks who improved their overall record to 8-2, and 6-2 in the SEC.
Shaw threw for just 81 yards. But the Gamecocks defense held the Gators to just two field goals and a touchdown. Former WPDE All-Zone standout Victor Hampton out of Darlington High made two tackles for South Carolina.
The win marks the first time that the Gamecocks have won six conference games since joining the SEC in 1992. South Carolina is still in the SEC title hunt.
Freshman running back Brandon Miles rushed for 120 yards to lead the Gamecocks on the ground.
South Carolina will host The Citadel next Saturday, November 19 at noon at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.
