College Football: Gamecocks survive with 24-21 win over Navy

Marcus Lattimore runs for 246 yards, 3 TD's

The 10th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks rallied to escape with a 24-21 win over the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Gamecocks running back Marcus Lattimore rambled for a career-high 246 yards on 37 carries and three TD's. Lattimore also had four receptions for 25 yards.

South Carolina piled up 458 yards and 27 first downs but never pulled away from Navy (2-1). The Gamecocks did not punt once during the contest. Antonio Allen led the USC defense with ten tackles, one forced fumble and an interception.

Trailing 21-17 early in the fourth quarter, Lattimore capped a 15-play, 79 yard drive with a 7-yard game-winning touchdown run. South Carolina has now won six consecutive home openers.

The Gamecocks (3-0) will host the Vanderbilt Commodores next Saturday, September 24 in Columbia. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
