The Gamecocks Fan Fest arrived at Darlington Raceway on Wednesday night and head football coach Steve Spurrier once again answered the question that keeps being asked involving suspended quarterback Stephen Garcia.  Spurrier revealed that the redshirt senior will likely be able to participate in summer workouts with his teammates as a first step towards being reinstated to the team.

"I think he's probably going to be allowed to workout with the team this summer and then we'll see how his actions are," Spurrier said near the start finish line at Track Too Tough to Tame.  "In the first of August when the players report, we'll make a definite decision. That's our plan."

Newschannel 15's Mark Haggard asked Spurrier point blank about what Garcia needs to do to get reinstated commenting that it was never spelled out to us (the media).  "It's not going to be either," Spurrier said.  "He needs to act like a first class student athlete, that's what he needs to do. How's that for an answer."

Spurrier said that he thinks that Connor Shaw is capable of winning the starting job even if Garcia returns.  In an effort to change the subject, Spurrier told the media assembled that he wanted to talk about Alshon Jeffrey and Marcus Lattimore, but then made one more comment about Garcia and his troubles during his Gamecocks career.

"Stephen wasn't pre-season All-American. He's never made all conference. He's a good player, but he's never been a great player. I think he can play a lot better than he plays, but maybe that's what it is."
