The Myrtle Beach Pelicans beat the Potomac Nationals 2-0 on Monday night behind a sensational pitching performance by left-hander Robert Erlin. Erlin tossed seven shutout innings with ten strikeouts, allowed just two hits and no runs. Unfortunately for Erlin, he did not get a decision.
Zach Zaneski belted an RBI single to break a scoreless tie in the bottom of the eighth. The Birds plated two runs in the inning on the way to victory. Myrtle Beach improves to a record of 12-5. They are one-half game out of first place in the Southern Division of the Carolina League.
Myrtle Beach will continue the seven game homestand against Potomac on Tuesday night at BB&T Coastal Field with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
