Coming up this Saturday in Columbia, three local teams play for high school basketball state championships.   Last weekend in Sumter, two local teams won state championships.

The Low Country Prep girls topped James Island 57-45 to win its first ever 1A SCISA state crown.  Jenny Derrick had 19 points, 15 rebounds, 10 steals and 8 blocked shots in the win.  The Myrtle Beach Christian Academy boys won its third 1A SCISA boys title in the past four years with a 60-50 win over Palmetto Christian.  Chris Underwood paced Christian Academy with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Both Derrick and Underwood will be honored at WPDE's 2011 Hoop Zone Banquet as SCISA players of the year next week.  Watch Mark Haggard's story to hear from both victorious teams.
