Columbia, S.C. - Jackie Bradley Jr. went 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBI and junior left-hander Michael Roth worked 5.2 innings and allowed just two runs as South Carolina opened up the 2011 season with a 12-5 win over Santa Clara in front of a capacity crowd of 8,242 fans at Carolina Stadium.  The defending NCAA champions pounded out 13 hits with Christian Walker and Scott Wingo also adding homers.

Clemson 14 Eastern Michigan 3

Clemson, ranked as high as #4 in the nation, opened the 2011 season with 16 hits and 10 walks en route to a 14-3 victory over Eastern Michigan in front of 6,138 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday afternoon. It was the season-opener for both teams and the first meeting between the two since 1976.

CONWAY — Senior Hayes Orton crushed an 0-1 fastball over the right-field wall for a three-run, walk-off home run to give 18th-ranked Coastal Carolina a 9-6 win over Boston College in the team’s 2011 season openers at Chanticleer’s Caravelle Resort Tournament before a crowd of 1,373 — a record for a regular-season game at Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field.
