Former Coastal Carolina golfer Tom Gillis shot a final round of 2-under par 70 at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and placed third at the event at -11 for the four days. Gillis earned a check for $428,400. It was his best finish in five seasons on the PGA Tour.
D.A. Points won the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, blistering the course with a 5-under par 67 final round score. Points won for the first time on the PGA Tour, finishing 15-under to give him a two stroke win over Hunter Mahan. Points also paired with Bill Murray to win the celebrity team title.
Another CCU alum, Dustin Johnson, shot a 2-over par 74 final round at Pebble and was even par for the tournament. Johnson ended up tied for 55th place. The two-time defending champion of the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am has made four cuts in four events this season and is 12th in the Fed-Ex Cup standings.
Bishopville native Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey struggled to a 2-over par 74 final round and finished tied for 39th. Ex-Clemson golfer D.J. Trahan finished one back of Gainey. Still another former Clemson star, Jonathan Byrd missed the cut. And Hunter Haas out of Greer did not make it to the weekend at Pebble.
