Myrtle Beach has the rare distinction of two All-star quarerbacks. Everett Golson will play in the Shrine Bowl and Mitch Campbell will play in the North South All Star game. Campbell has thrown for 2300 yards and 30 Td's in just nine games
Joning Campbell on the South roster is teammate Alex Holloman at defensive back. Holloman has 4 interceptions in 2010.
Dominique Cooper of Darlington is one the area's sleepers. He's a two way start at both linebacker and running back. Cooper is a back back at 6'2", 205 pounds. Cooper has run for more than 900 yards and 9 Td's this season. Cooper is a downhill runner who is expected to excel at the next level. He's been offered by the Gamecocks and East Carolina.
Lamar's BJ Goodson will be taking his talents to Clemson as a linebacker, but he'll play tight end for the South in December. He has more than 130 tackles this season with several sacks. Goodson has great instincts and excellent hands. He doubles as a receiver on the Silver Foxes high scoring offense averaging more than 20 yards a catch.
Wilson wideout John Israel will try and bring his big play ability to the South squad. Israel averages over 26 yards per catch.
The South coaching staff has tabbed five area lineman....Raheim Barr of Lamar and Mullins Avery Grant are both getting signficant college interest from Division I-AA schools. Kilderick Gadsen of Marlboro County and Mike Mabry of Andrews will join that pair on the offensive line while Carvers Bay Bear Terrence Jenerette will play on the defensive line.
On the defensive side, Conway is represented by hard hitting Emmitt Kelly in the secondary and Lake City LB Cody Cooper will be playing in Myrtle Beach for his final high school game. And three players who are two way stars will play on the defensive side- we're used to seeing Lake City's DaShawn Butler at quarterback, but he'll play DB in the North South game - he made a key pick in the Panthers win over Manning in week 10. Mike Muhammad of South Florence is one of the area leaders in receiving, but he has also shown big play ability in the secondary. Dillon's Quincy Bethea is one of Tyquan Hayes top targets, and he'll move over to DB.
Boston College commit Alex Howell of West Florence will be the South kicker. The North South All Star game is set for December 11th at Doug Shaw Stadium.
