The Kyle Parker decision is in, but the official word is not. Clemson quarterback and baseball star Kyle Parker set a self imposed deadline of Wednesday at midnight to tell Dabo Swinney whether he'll return to Clemson to play football or if he would concentrate on his pro baseball career. Parker was a first round pick, #26 overall by the Colorado Rockies.
On Wednesday at 12:39 am, Clemson Sports Information Director Tim Bourret released a statement saying that Swinney received word from Parker about his decision and the quarterback will release a statement to the media later on in the day. At around the same time, ClemsonInsider.com reported that Parker will return to Clemson to play football. Tigernet.com reported the same story and added that the Rockies and Parker will continue to negotiate on a signing bonus that would allow him to play both college football and pro baseball. The Rockies have until mid-August to hammer down a deal.
Parker became the first athlete in NCAA Division I history to throw 20 TD passes and hit 20 HR's in an academic school year.
Carolinalive.com will post the official word from Kyle Parker when it's released.
