A relatively new prep school in Atlanta, Georgia signed twelve Dillon Wildcats football players on Monday. The Atlanta Sports Academy is a 2-year prep school located on the campus of Morris Brown College. The Spartans scooped up a bevy of Dillon High stars who played under head coach Jackie Hayes and graduated in either 2008 or 2009.
The prep school was designed for student athletes who are academically ineligible to compete on the NCAA or NAIA level because they lack the ACT, SAT or grade point average requirements. This is a second chance for these athletes who hope to meet NCAA requirements for a transfer into a four year college.
The twelve players who signed today are: Camian Ford, Jamaal Davis, Jovandie Douglas, Lorenzo Allen, Kevin "Scooter" Dixon, Tommy Pittman, Ira Owens, Anquawn Blue, Alex Bentley, Kendale Carmichael, Stacy Rowell and Tracy Rowell.
The 2-time Class AA state champion Wildcats have had fourteen players sign over the past three months. WPDE All-Zone selection Antuawn Blue inked with South Carolina State and Hassan Williamson signed with Campbell during the early signing period back in February.
