The Socastee wrestling team has advanced to the 3A state semifinals after a 42-33 win at home over Berkeley on Monday night. The Braves Mikel Nelson scored a 2-1 decision over DiAndra Robinson at 120 pounds in a match featuring the top two ranked wrestlers in the state at that weight class. Socastee forfeited the final four matches to rest wrestlers for Wednesday's state semifinals making the final score closer than it really was.
Socastee will face Hanahan on the road Wednesday night with the winner advancing to Saturday's 3A state championship.
