Moglia says CCU cannot allow Appalachian State's rich tradition to intimidate his Chants.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football team will try to make school history at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, North Carolina this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against a team they have never beaten. CCU is 0-2 lifetime against this week's opponent, 17th ranked Appalachian State.
Both teams enter Saturday's contest with 2-2 records. CCU is on a two-game losing skid, following a 38-28 loss at Toledo. Appalachian State rallied to win at Chattanoona last weekend.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers, who play in the Southern Conference, lost at East Carolina to open the season. App rebounded the next week to knock off Montana. On September 15, the Mountaineers 18-game regular season home win streak came to a crashing halt against The Citadel.
CCU has won three straight games against Southern Conference teams. The Chants are 6-7 lifetime against the SoCon. On the flipside, App has won 15-straight games over current Big South members. The Mountaineers have won three national championships.
The Coastal-App game has all the earmarkings of a shootout. CCU averages 30.3 points a game. App sticks 27.5 on the board per contest.
Coastal Carolina will receive $100,000 for playing the Mountaineers this weekend.
