The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers defeated the North Carolina A&T Aggies 29-13 before a crowd of 9,314 at Brooks Stadium in Conway on Saturday night. New CCU head football coach Joe Moglia won his first game as a college sideline boss.

Coastal Carolina jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on TD runs by Aramis Hillary and Jeremy Height and never looked back.

North Carolina A&T closed the gap to 17-10 in the second quarter when Scotland County High product Kwashaun Quick threw a 23 yard TD pass to Larry Raper.

Coastal Carolina slammed the door in the third quarter. Hillary threw a 33 yard TD strike to Matt Hazel to give the Chants a 24-10 lead. CCU added a field goal and a safety in the final quarter.

Coastal senior defensive back Dontavais Johnson had three interceptions against the Aggies to tie a school record for most picks in a single game. Mike McClure led CCU's defense with 12 tackles.

Height was the Chanticleers top rusher with 109 yards on 20 carries with one touchdown. Niccolo Mastromatteo was CCU's top receiver with seven catches for a career-high 114 yards. Hillary completed 19 of 28 passes for 274 yards with one TD pass and two interceptions.

Coastal Carolina (1-0) will travel to Greenville, South Carolina next Saturday, September 8 to play the Furman Paladins (0-1) at 5 p.m.  Samford beat Furman 24-21 on Saturday in Birmingham.
