Hags Thoughts
Lake City is a physical team, led by WPDE All-Zone selection LB-RB Devaris Brunson. Brunson is one of the area's top returning tacklers. He will also play a big role as the Panthers bell cow running back. Marquise Brown is an athletic QB who will benefit from a strong offensive line. The Panthers play a meat grinder schedule with non-region games against South Florence, Manning and Dillon. Lake City Head Coach Jim Rowell says if his younger players can mature quickly, the Panthers might challenge Timberland for the Region 7-2A crown.
Rich's Thoughts
I can't wait to see Brunson at running back. He should have big numbers. Make no mistake about it, he'll be a linebacker at East Carolina, but it will fun to see him go both ways for one season. I agree with Hags that Timberland will be the team to beat (they always are), but Lake City won't be wide eyed when they face them thanks to the matchups against the Bruins, Monarchs and Wildcats.
