Amber Campbell hosted an invitational exhibiton in the women's hammer throw at Myrtle Beach high school on Friday. Campbell dominated eight collegiate athletes in the women's hammer throw. In six rounds, Campbell threw over 70 meters in her first five throws with her final throw falling just below the 70 meter mark. Her longest throw was 70.4 meters.
The US Olympic "A" standard is 71.5 meters a distance that Campbell has made in the past. Amber was pleased with her consistency and calls it one of her steadiest performances of her career. Campbell's personal best throw is 72.59 meters in Walnut, California in 2011. She was a 2008 Olympian throwing 67.86 meters in Beijing finishing in 21st place.
Campbell must finish in the top three at the US Olympic Trials in Portland, Oregon on June 21st to make her second US Olympic team.
