The Clemson Tigers upset the Virginia Tech Hokies 23-3 at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia on Saturday. Andre Ellington broke a 3-3 tie with a 1-yard TD run in the second quarter. Tajh Boyd iced the game with a 32-yard TD strike to Dwayne Allen in the third quarter. Mike Bellamy added a 31 yard TD run to complete the scoring for Clemson.

Former WPDE All-Zone selection Jaron Brown, a product of Cheraw High, had 3 catches for 56 yards for Clemson. He also had a 34 yard kickoff return. 2007 Zoneman winner Bruce Taylor out of Myrtle Beach High made 10 tackles for Virginia Tech.

Andre Branch led the Clemson defense with 11 tackles, including three sacks and a forced fumble. Jonathan Willard, who attended Loris High, made nine stops for the Tigers. Malliciah Goodman from West Florence High and Quandon Christian from Lake View High made four tackles apiece. Lateek Townsend from Marlboro County High had one tackle.

Clemson snapped a 5-game head-to-head losing streak against Virginia Tech. It was the Tigers third straight win over a top 25 opponent. Clemson beat then #21 Auburn to snap the nation's longest win streak at 17 games. Last week, they beat #11 Florida State at Death Valley.

Clemson's game at Virginia Tech was their first on the road this season, and their first win at Lane Stadium since 1989. In addition, the Hokies 12-game ACC win streak was halted.

Clemson improved to a record of 5-0 overall. The Tigers will host Boston College next Saturday, October 8. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
