Clemson wins football opener 43-19 over Troy

The Clemson Tigers trailed 16-13 at halftime to the Troy Trojans (AL), but rallied for a 43-19 win on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. The Tigers rallied to outscore Troy 30-3 in the second half. Former WPDE All-Zone selection Jaron Brown caught a 7-yard TD pass from Tajh Boyd in theClemson win. Brown had three catches for 26 yards.

Boyd threw three TD passes. He completed 20 of 30 passes for 264 yards. Andre Ellington led the Tigers with 89 yards on 18 carries. Defensively, Loris High product Jonathan Willard led Clemson with eight tackles. Maliciah Goodman out of West Florence High and Lake View's Quandon Christian made three stops each. Spencer Benton from Myrtle Beach High also had a pair of tackles for the Tigers.

Clemson (1-0), will host the Wofford Terriers next Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
