WPDE Sports Interview: Tyler Thigpen talks about agreeing to deal with Bills

WPDE Sports has learned that Tyler Thigpen has agreed in principle to a three year contract with the Buffalo Bills. Agent Joel Turner says Thigpen received interest from the Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers, Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins on the first day of free agency since the NFL lockout ended.

Thigpen is reunited with Chan Gailey. The Bills head coach was the offensive coordinator for Kansas City during Tyler's time with the Chiefs. Thigpen is a four year NFL veteran. He became an unrestricted free agent when the NFL came to a new labor agreement on Monday. The former Coastal Carolina All-American can not officially sign with Buffalo until Friday. He can report to training camp then, but not participate in workouts until August 4th.

Following an All-American career at Coastal Carolina, Thigpen was a 7th round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2007. After spending training camp in Minnesota, Thigpen was cut and immediately picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2008, he became the Chiefs starter and played in 14 games throwing for 2,608 yards with 18 TD's and 12 INT's. He was the NFL's leading rusher for quarterbacks in 2008 with 386 yards and 3 scores.

He was traded to the Dolphins in 2009 and spent two seasons in Miami. He appeared in five games last year including one start throwing for 435 yards and 2 TD's.
