Junior LHP Michael Roth (13-3, 0.97 ERA) will start for South Carolina on Friday vs. Virginia at the 2011 College World Series. Roth will oppose junior LHP Danny Hultzen of the Cavaliers. First pitch is 7 p.m. ET.
Roth has the lowest earned run average among starting pitchers in division one college baseball. Hultzen was the second overall pick in the Major League draft by the Seattle Mariners earlier this month.
Virginia would have to beat South Carolina twice to advance to the College World Series best of three championship round. The Gamecocks need just one win to return to the CWS title round.
