The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers baseball team beat the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs 6-1 on Saturday in Lexington, Virginia to win the Big South Conference  Tournament. The victory earned CCU an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Chants designated hitter Keith Hardwick, a product of Carolina Forest High, was named tournament MVP. Hardwick had six hits in 14 at-bats with four RBI.

Coastal Carolina starting pitcher Jordan Coons tossed seven scoreless innings while Rich Witten and Dan Bowman each homered in the title win over Gardner-Webb. The Chants will wait to see their regional assignment during the NCAA tournament selection show which will air on ESPN on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
