The WPDE Zone Cup battle between Saint James and Myrtle Beach will continue through the week. It's now the Seahawks who control their own destiny to win their 3rd WPDE Zone Cup. Thanks to a state semifinal win over AC Flora in 3A boys soccer, the Seahawks have now moved up to 385 overall ponts. Saint James picked up 75 points from the Sharks 2nd place finish in the 3A golf championships to take second place and 380 points.
Both schools have one team alive in post-season competition. If Myrtle Beach wins the 3A state soccer title, they will clinch the Zone Cup. Saint James needs a baseball state title and a Myrtle Beach loss to secure the Cup. If both teams lose, the Seahawks will win it by 5 points. Saint James trails Union one game to none in the best of three Class 3A baseball state championship. The Seahawks play for the 3A state soccer title at 4:30 pm in Columbia.
