Coastal Carolina's college football opener at West Virginia will be televised live on WWMB CW21. Air time is 3:30 p.m. on September 4th. This will be the first ever football meeting between the Chanticleers and Mountaineers.
According to Coastal Carolina head coach David Bennett, CCU will receive a $250,000 check for playing West Virginia in Morgantown. The CCU-West Virginia match-up was put together when coach Bennett and his staff traveled to Morgantown to learn the spread offense from then-WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez. During the trip, Bennett caught up with now-WVU head coach Bill Stewart. Bennett has known Stewart since he coached at VMI. Their relationship eventually led to putting the two together to open the 2010 season.
