A fictional crime took place along the Grand Strand Saturday evening and a few members of the WPDE news team played a role.

The plot? There's been a murder at a hula competition and the hunt is on to find the killer.

A crowd tried to solve the "Hulas and Homicide" mystery at the Horry County Literacy Council's annual murder mystery theater dinner held at the Sea Mist resort in Myrtle Beach. The annual event is a fundraiser for the non-profit organization.

The actors included Joel Allen, Amanda Kinseth, Jason Claspell, Tim McGinnis and Allyson Floyd.

After sorting through clues, it was revealed Allyson was the killer. She was carted away in handcuffs, figuratively of course.

This is the seventh year for the event.
