Simpson is out of prison and is an unrestricted free agent.
NFL wide receiver Jerome Simpson has been released from prison after serving a 15-day sentence in the Kenton County Jail in Covington, Kentucky on a felony drug charge. Simpson, who played for the Cincinnati Bengals during his first four seasons in the NFL, is now an unrestricted free agent.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Simpson has already worked out for the St. Louis Rams. The former Coastal Carolina star plans to visit the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday according to Schefter.
Simpson, 26, had a career-high 50 catches for 725 yards and four TD's last season. He was jailed after pleading guilty to drug charges after two and a half pounds of marijuana were shipped to his Kentucky home. Another pound of pot was later found inside his residence. State prosecutors do not believe he was dealing drugs.
Simpson is currently serving three years probation and faces a possible NFL suspension. The Bengals have not ruled out bringing him back according to ESPN.
