Clemson tied the three game series with a win on Saturday.
Game two of the Clemson-South Carolina baseball series went to the Tigers. Clemson jumped on Gamecocks starting pitcher Colby Holmes for five earned runs and never looked back on the way to a 6-3 victory on Saturday, before a crowd of 7,125 fans at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina.
South Carolina senior right-handed pitcher Colby Holmes, a Conway High product, allowed two Clemson tallies in the second inning. Garrett Boulware stroked an RBI double, and Tyler Krieger with a single to make it 2-0 Tigers.
Clemson added three more runs in the 5th, highlighted by a two run single by Steven Duggar, who accounted for half of Clemson's offense. He also scored a run. Holmes (1-1) took the loss.
The Gamecocks rallied for two in the bottom of the 6th on back-to-back homers by Max Schrock and LB Dantzler. The solo blasts cut the Clemson lead to 5-2.
The final game of the three game Reedy River Rivalry series will be played on Sunday, March 3, in Columbia. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. South Carolina won the first game of the series on Friday, 6-0 over Clemson.
In other action, the Indiana Hoosiers defeated Coastal Carolina 9-1 on Saturday at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. CCU now has a record of 4-5. The Chanticleers will host #10 N.C. State on Sunday at 5 p.m.
