The Clemson Tigers beat the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 5-3 at the NCAA Columbia Baseball Regional on Saturday at Carolina Stadium. Jason Stolz hit two home runs, driving in three runs to lead the Tigers attack. 

Coastal took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Daniel Bowman sacrifice fly that scored Ted Blackman. Clemson scored the equalizer in the third on a solo homer by Stolz.

The Chanticleers got the lead back in an unexpected way. Blackman hit the first home run of his college career to give the Chanticleers a 2-1 advantage.

Clemson roared back with three runs in the fourth inning. Graduate student Brad Felder hammered an RBI double to tie the game. Laterin the inning, Stolz hit a two-run homer to put the Tigers in front 4-2.

CCU clawed back to pull within 4-3. But Clemson iced the game in the 9th on a Phil Pohl RBI single. Scott Firth slammed the door on the Chants by striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth.

Clemson advanced to play the South Carolina Gamecocks.  Coastal Carolina is eliminated. The Chanticleers end their season with a record of 42-19. CCU finished 1-2 at the NCAA Columbia Regional. They beat Manhattan, and lost twice to Clemson.
