The South Carolina Gamecocks defeated the Clemson Tigers in college football for a third straight season. South Carolina beat Clemson 34-13 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia on Saturday night.

South Carolina sophomore quarterback Connor Shaw ran for 107 yards and threw for 210 more. Shaw threw three TD passes and ran for another in the Gamecocks victory.

The Gamecocks took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter after a 49-yard TD pass from Shaw to Bruce Ellington. Clemson rallied to tie the game in the second quarter. South Carolina would outscore Clemson 24-3 the rest of the way. Shaw had a 15-yard TD run just before halftime to give the Gamecocks a 17-10 advantage. Shaw threw two second half TD passes. One to Rory Anderson and his final scoring toss went to Alshon Jeffery.

The Gamecocks defense held the Tigers to just 153 yards of total offense. Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd, who leads the ACC in passing, threw for only 83 yards. Cheraw product Jaron Brown had one catch for six yards for Clemson. Darlington High grad Victor Hampton made one tackle for South Carolina.

Three former WPDE All-Zone selections made tackles for Clemson. Jonathan "Tig" Willard, who attended Loris High, had four tackles, Malliciah Goodman out of West Florence High had two tackles and Lateek Townsend from Marlboro County High made one stop.

South Carolina finished the regular season with a record of 10-2. It is only the second time in school history that the Gamecocks have won ten games in a season. 1984 is the only other season that the Gamecocks won ten games. Clemson's record falls to 9-3 as the Tigers prepare to play in the ACC Championship game against Virginia Tech. The Tigers have lost three of their last four games.
