Conway quarterback Mykal Moody will sign to play college football on Wednesday with the East Carolina Pirates, according to his high school coach. Moody informed Tigers head coach Chuck Jordan on Sunday that he chose ECU following a visit on campus over the weekend. Moody had four major offers: ECU, Marshall, Kentucky and NC State. He had narrowed down his choice to East Carolina and Marshall.
The two time finalist for WPDE's Zoneman Trophy, Moody threw for 1543 yards and 21 touchdowns with only five interceptions to go along with 15 rushing TD's and 813 yards in his senior season. In 2011, he had 1543 yards in the air with 17 TD passes and 9 picks to go along with 1490 yards rushing and 30 scores on the ground.
Moody played four years at quarterback, but has an open mind to switching to a slot receiver position in college. He's the second local player to commit to play for East Carolina, joining Lake City linebacker Devaris Brunson. The Pirates also have former Myrtle Beach WR Desmond Sumpter, Marlboro County DE Lee Pegues and Hemingway WR Jabril Solomon on its roster.
