South Carolina earns bragging rights in 2012 Shrine Bowl.
Conway High's Mykal Moody scored on a 5-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to put the South Carolina all-stars ahead to stay, in a 23-19 victory over North Carolina on Saturday at Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Moody also caught a pass just before halftime to set up a field goal, to give South Carolina a 9-6 lead. But North Carolina rallied to take a 13-9 lead when Pharoh Cooper, from Havelock High scored on a 45-yard TD run.
Cooper, a South Carolina Gamecocks commit, accounted for 238 all-purpose yards for North Carolina.
Conway's Malcolm Green caught a 45 yard pass to set up South Carolina's first score of the day, to tie the game 6-6 in the first half. Myrtle Beach High product Chocolate Wilson had several returns for South Carolina, including one to help set up a field goal.
Lake City High's Devaris Brunson had several tackles including one tackle for loss for South Carolina. Scotland County's Malik Diggs had an interception to stop a South Carolina drive in the first half.
South Carolina has won four of the last six Shrine Bowls. South Carolina now leads the lifetime series 42-30-4.
