WATCH AC Flora's Matthew Howard (Penn commit) win the Slam Dunk Contest
With March Madness dominating the sports headlines, future NCAA Tournament stars in both the men's and women's game are on the Grand Strand for the Carolinas All-Star Classic. The slam dunk and three point competition is set for 7pm on Friday night at Myrtle Beach High with the All-Star matchups between South Carolina and North Carolina begin at 6:30 pm on Saturday night with the girls game.
Ria'n Holland of South View High is a NC All-Star and signed to play Division I basketball at Wichita State. He watched the Shockers beat Pitt in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before he headed out to practice on Thursday. The game features two McDonald's All-Americans: Isaiah Hicks (UNC Commitment) on the boys side and Dutch Fork's Alaina Coates (South Carolina commitment) on the girls side.
2013 WPDE Mister Hoop Zone Jaylen Shaw of Hartsville and NMB's India Farmer are the two local players competing in the showcase. Both players marveled at the talent level on both rosters. Future South Carolina Gamecock Justin McKie, the son of USC legend BJ McKie, is also a player to watch in the boys game.
